The Rules of Procedure sets down
inter-alia the rules for the appointment of Chair and Vice-Chair
and the rules of conduct the IOR-ARC meetings namely the Council of
Ministers, the Committee of Senior Officials as well as to other
organs established under the Charter of the Association. This
mechanism is of vital importance for the decision-making process of
the Association.
The Rules of Procedure was adopted
at the Extraordinary Council of Ministers' Meeting, held in Muscat,
Sultanate of Oman on 20-23 January, 2000. The Rules were
recently reviewed and adopted by the Council of Ministers in 2010
in Sana'a following the revision of the IOR-ARC Charter.
SCOPE
These Rules of Procedure for the Indian Ocean Rim Association for
Regional Co-operation (IOR-ARC) will apply to the appointment of
Chair and Vice-Chair and the Organisation of all levels of the
IOR-ARC meetings, as well as for the meetings of the IOR-ARC Organs
and Specialised Agencies established under the Association (herein
referred to as Council meetings) and will remain effective until
amended by the Council of Ministers.
